Planning
Reading time: 4 minutes
You Need a Plan.
There isn’t any other way.
Because if you don’t have one, society does, and they’ve been planning your life for decades.
When I first started this self-improvement journey, I fell into the trap of constantly watching motivational videos on YouTube and Instagram.
I felt like I was being productive, but I was really just lying to myself.
I thought I needed motivation, but I didn’t.
I needed clarity.
A plan creates clarity.
Clarity creates action.
A clear plan is like a compass when you are walking in a huge forest.
Without it, you might as well be walking in circles without even realizing it.
Most people use the compass given to them by society: Go to school, get a job, and retire when you are 65.
Few actually create their own compass with their own destination.
They want to live their life fully at a young age, when they are still full of energy.
If this is the case for you, you need a plan.
A strategy.
A clear set of goals, that when backed by focused effort, will create a meaningful future.
We’ve talked about setting goals in a previous newsletter, so I'll go over it briefly.
Be ambitious and ask yourself the following questions:
How would your ideal life look like?
What would you do for work?
How much money would you have?
How long would you work each day?
Where would you live?
What would you look like?
How would you feel?
Once you’ve done that, write down the exact steps you are going to take to reach that goal.
A good way to do that is to reverse engineer the process.
Say, for example, that you would like to be a successful content creator.
What skills do you need to be great at content creation?
You need to learn how to:
Write
Speak
Persuade
Market
You can’t tackle them all at once.
Only focus on one thing at a time.
Master that skill, and once you are fast and efficient at it, you will have more time and energy to stack another skill on top of the first one.
I would suggest starting with writing since that is the foundation of all content.
Writing is the most life-changing skill you could learn.
It orders your consciousness, it allows you to charge high ticket prices for your offers, and it is the greatest marketing tool.
You need it for:
Ads
Video game dialogues
Online marketing
Movie scripts
Video titles
Newsletters
Blog posts
Tweets
Cold emails
And I can go on and on.
Learn to write, and you will be rich.
Alright, so the next step to reverse engineer the process is to think about what habits you will need in order for you to learn those skills.
Let's stick with writing.
The easiest way to start learning how to write is to pick up a pen and paper and start journaling for 10 minutes before you go to bed.
Do this daily, make a habit out of it.
What else can you do?
Maybe create a Twitter account and start posting the lessons that you’ve learned?
What weekly system are you able to create out of it?
You could start a weekly newsletter, for instance ;)
Do you see where I’m going with this?
Think about how you could spend your time improving the skills necessary for you to reach your goal.
If you still think it is impossible, you have to reverse engineer even further.
What limiting beliefs are holding you back?
Changing your beliefs is the first step you should take if you want to achieve your dream life.
Look for people on the internet who have the life you want.
What are their beliefs, and how do they differ from yours?
Easier said than done, though. Because most beliefs are deeply rooted in your subconscious.
This seems like a great topic for next week’s newsletter :)
In the meantime, think about what skills and habits you need for you to live your dream life.
See you next Saturday legend,
